Ticket Terms & Conditions

1. Tickets are valid for the date and time specified. It is your responsibility to check your tickets as mistakes cannot always be rectified.
2. Tickets cannot be exchanged or refunded. There is no re-admission to an exhibition or an event.
3. Tickets must not be resold for profit or commercial gain. Failure to comply will make this ticket void.
4. Somerset House reserves the right to refuse admission or attendance to any visitor.
5. Admission for latecomers cannot be guaranteed, although offered wherever possible.
6. Somerset House reserves the right to make any alterations to an advertised event. Where an event is cancelled ticket holders will be offered either tickets for a rescheduled date (subject to availability) up to the face value of the original tickets, or if the ticket holder is unable to attend the rescheduled event, a refund of the ticket face value.
7. By attending this event or exhibition, ticket holders consent to being photographed or filmed by Somerset House. This may then be used for the purposes of marketing and publicity
8. All visitors must abide by our Safe Space policy and respect other visitors

We are committed to protecting our customers' privacy. We are entirely open about our information gathering practices.

New regulations are coming into place on 25 May 2018 around how organisations record, store and use your data. This new legislation is known as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). This legislation is designed to give you full control over how organisations record, store and use your data.

You can tell us if you would like to be contacted by Somerset House, if so how and about what areas of our work. Equally, you can tell us if you would like us never to contact you again and remove your data from our database.

Why we have your data

We gather data when people book for an event or exhibition at Somerset House, or sign up to our mailing list. In the past, many of our events were sold via Ticketmaster (e.g. Summer Series, Film4 Summer Screen, Skate, Bjork Digital). We at Somerset House have now taken over direct responsibility for ticketing these events. We now also have responsibility for managing our audience’s data. Therefore, if you have previously booked through Ticketmaster and given permission for Somerset House (as ‘event organiser’) to contact you with news and offers, we now hold those permissions.

For us to process any payment transactions (e.g. ticket purchases or donations), we need to know your name, email address, delivery address, credit/debit card number, security code and expiry date. We will not collect any information about you unless it is specifically and knowingly provided by you. The information we collect will be accurate and up to date. You can check this at any time by contacting us and we will immediately correct any inaccuracies you report.

How we will communicate with you

We gather permissions to send out emails about the following areas:

  • Somerset House full programme, news and offers
  • Somerset House Studios and appropriate related events
  • Learning and participation opportunities and appropriate related events
  • Ways in which you can support Somerset House

Some of our events are produced with partner organisations. If you book for these events through our ticketing system, you can specify if and how you would like to be contacted by Somerset House and the partner organisation respectively at the point of booking.

There are certain types of event-specific emails that you will always receive from us, regardless of your contact permissions. These include confirmation of booking, pre-visit information, post-visit information to gather feedback or notification if we need to change or cancel an event. These communications are sent to assist you with your booking and your visit, and are send irrespective of any contact preferences you have supplied to us.

How to check and update your contact preferences

You can check and update your contact preferences at any time by logging on to our website, visiting the ‘Manage my account’ area of the site and selecting ‘Update your interests’. We suggest you do that now, so that we have your most up to date contact preferences and can continue to communicate with you in the way you would like.

In future, whenever you book a ticket with us you will be reminded about this. Once you’ve made a purchase, we’ll take your preferences as stipulated at that point as confirmation of how you would like to be contacted in future.

Our website

This site uses a RapidSSL SSLCertificate to offer secure communications by encrypting all data to and from the site. RapidSSL has checked and verified the site's registered domain name.

This website employs RapidSSL and industry-standard SSL to provide secure credit card transactions. SSL is a communications protocol for transmitting private information over the internet. It works by encrypting data that is transmitted over the SSL connection. When you place an order, your credit/debit card information is encrypted and then sent over the internet using an SSL connection. No one can read or access the data that is being transmitted.

We collect information about our customers via server logs, cookies, order forms and competitions. A cookie is a file that your web browser places on your computer’s hard disk for record keeping purposes. The information collected in this way can be used to identify you unless you modify your browser settings. The cookie does not store any credit/debit card information nor password details. It is important for you to protect against unauthorized access to your password and to your computer. Ensure that you log out when you finish using a shared computer.

Data processing and protections

We have business and technical partners whom we share data with to handle orders, process credit and debit card payments and provide a range of services, including for fraud protection purposes. They are bound by Data Protection covenants and must process the personal information in accordance with this privacy policy. You should be aware that if we are requested by the police or any other regulatory authority investigating suspected illegal activities to provide your personal information, we are entitled to do so.

In addition to the company's safeguards, your personal data is protected by the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). GDPR requires us, as registered Data Controllers, amongst other things to ensure that the data we hold about you should be processed lawfully and fairly. It should be accurate, relevant and not excessive. The information should, where necessary, be kept up to date and not retained for longer than is necessary. It should be kept securely to prevent unauthorized access by other people.

If you would like to exercise any of your rights please:

  • let us have enough information to identify you (including your full name and address);
  • let us have proof of your identity and address (a copy of your driving licence or passport and a recent utility or credit card bill); and
  • let us know what right you want to exercise and the information to which your request relates.

We take the risk of internet fraud very seriously. With the volume of fraudulent credit card transactions increasing, we make every effort to ensure all orders are thoroughly checked using the information already supplied. There is a possibility we may contact you to make additional security checks and we ask for your co-operation to enable us to complete them. Fraudulent transactions will not be tolerated by us and such transactions will be reported to the relevant authorities.
